X-Reas Leak

I have a '04 4Runner, sport edition, with X-Reas suspension. My front left shock is leaking and my mechanic, who claims to be a Toyota specialist told me I need to replace the front left and right shocks.

I've been finding a lot of conflicting information about what needs to happen if a shock goes bad with the X-reas.

Do I replace the front left and right?

Do I replace the front left and rear right?

Do I have to replace the whole system?

What do I need to do to fix the problem?

You need to replace the left front and right rear shocks and if I remember correctly and one controller canister. I had on my 05 Limited the driver's and pass front leak and had to replace all around. They work in a x pattern shifting fluid diagonally. I spend almost 2,000 on parts and labor. Wish they never had this system. They all seem to leak.
