New 2011 Taco! ??'s

Just picked up my new 2011 Taco TRD Offroad, coming from a 2008, stoked on all the new features!

Couple things:

Do they still give the little mini cargo net in the armrest area? Mine didnt have it, should I ask the dealer for it?

When I turn my Fan dial on, the AC comes on, and i cant click it off, does this need to be fixed, or is this how it is now?

Also, the tow hitch, use to come with a toyota plastic cap type thing in it, mine doesnt have it, do they owe this to me, or they not giving these out either?

Thanks all!

I got both the little net and the hitch plug with my 2009. Hopefully they haven't gotten cheap with those details in 2011.

As for the AC, where is the temperature knob set? If the temp is set to max cold, then the AC is forced on and you can't turn it off. If you back off the temp, then you'll be able to control the AC button.

I didn't get my little cargo net or reciever plug either. And I'm like you, coming from an '08 to a '11. He's right about the AC controls, just back the temp from full cold. I've noticed that my recirculate air button won't stay on for more than 5 min.

Yup figured out the AC issue, mu 08 didnt have that feature.

Yeah Toyota must be pinching pennies, I'm bummed on the little net. I went back to my dealer this morning, had my guy open up 6 Tacoma's, none had the little net, and none have the hitch plug thing. Weak.

The net is pretty handy. Toyota HVAC gets more jacked up every year it seems. But I lost my butt plug my first off-road trip and found out it looks better without, so I wouldn't sweat that one.

OMG, are you telling me they implemented the same setup as the Highlander? That's one of the worst features the HL has. You want fresh air because it's nice out and you swing the temp control to cool and suddenly the AC comes on. Now you have to turn the dial back to warm a little, hit the AC button, and hit the Recirc button to disable it all. It's a mighty long distraction from driving every time you want to get cool fresh air (I figure several seconds of the eyes off the road while turning the dial just a little, and then finding all the buttons to push)! Toyota should think about safety instead. If Toyota wants to do this, then they need a bump/resistance in the dial to keep it from going to Max AC when turning it down to cold before it bumps into the Max AC setting. I wish they'd get a clue!

Okay, rant off. I feel better now.

Not to pirate the thread but maybe you guys can PM me about the cost of these new 2011, getting ready to trade in my 07 for a new one, hopefully with fewer problems. Looking at a 4dr 4x4 again. Congratulations on your new machines.

If your '07 has the cargo net in the console, TAKE IT!

Yeah, had to buy my console cargo net. Only cost me $8. Was told by the parts guy that the net is included with the manuals, but not the automatics. Don't understand that, but I now have it. Since I keep my recovery shackle and mount in the hitch, I didn't care that my truck came without the hitch cover.

WTF kind of convoluted logic is that ?!?

I guess it's the same logic that mandates you can only get fog lights with a V6.

I would call Toyota corporate on the console net issue. If you have a double cab, probably want to check for whatever nets come behind those rear seats too.

I know it's only $8, but it's also supposed to come with the truck. I have a really hard time believing that they would stop providing that. Mine came in a little cellophane/plastic bag in the center console (or was it the glove box?).

Are you guys leasing your trucks that you're trading your in 07/08's in for the 11's? My 06 just turned 85k and I haven't had any problems or done anything to it other than change oil, differential fluids, and spark plugs. I am due to change the front brakes and rotors this month for the 1st time. I did break a mudflap but that was my fault and my sport wheels are peeling, like most others. What are you getting in the 11's that the previous years don't have?

I ordered the the little net..my dealer wanted 7 bucks for it. i went to pick it up today, they gave it to me for free, because they said it should have come with it. I was stoked on that.
