No visable oil leaks but when I brake to fast to a stop I get a burning oil smell in cabin. Oil seems to be leaking from somewhere only when the car is running and dripping onto the manifold pipe and then getting sucked into the ventilation system. I have to open the windows to get the smell out. The same issue happens after I change the oil until it burns off the manifold pipe.
There are no oil spots on my garage floor and I have had the car running on 15 minutes and still no drips under the car.
Any one had this problem?

I have the same problem with my v6 Solara. The back valve cover gasket is leaking. To get at the valve cover, the intakes must be removed as well as the EGR valve as well other parts in your way. Toyota will charge around $550 to replace both valve cover gaskets. Hope this is not you problem but sounds like it is.

Thanks Murraybob, I also have a V6 in my Solara. What's really weird is it only happens when I brake hard. I wonder if a can of stop leak will swell the gaskets enough to make it stop? I have 202,000 miles on it and it's due for a second timing belt and would rather speand the $ on the belt then the valve covers.

I'm looking at buying a 2000 Toyota Solara, but I noticed that when I crank the heat, not the A/C, I get a weird burning smell that smells like it is coming from either a gel or rubber. Has anyone had this problem?
I know that Toyota did a recall of some models and replaced the oil pump and a few other things, but I'm well beyond the recall deadline to have them pay for it.
