If a filter meets the minimum standard then it is fine. If you change the oil regularly per the manual, any of those filters will work just fine. The price of the Toyota filter is roughly the same as the aftermarket versions. If it is convenient to you, buy from Toyota, and ask for a discount for a case. Otherwise, buy one at retail.

I can truly say this, in my career when a big problem came in on a hook, the motor had a Fram on it.

If you're not doing any extended intervals, most aftermarket filters should do fine (even Fram). If you do extended intervals such as with synthetic oil at 10,000 miles, go OEM or better quality.

On 2 camry's and a RAV 4 I have switched between purolator (regular and pure editions) and oem toyota from a dealer (not ebay, risk of fakes)





I have never had an issue in 300k miles. The low end fram is the only filter I regualrly avoid. I would use the supertech brand from walmart first



This all assumes 5k miles (roughly up to 6-7k good enough) changes. If going extended (10k plus), I would buy an extended filter like the Bosch

Yuck....Super(s**t)tech from Walmart. I think Fram is better...blech. lol!!!



But anyway, it depends on your schedule. Regular intervals or extended? Conventional oil or synthetic? I always favored the Fram high mileage filter on my older cars, and the high perf. ones on my Mustangs. Never an issue. Currently running the OEM filter in my Camry, but Toyota is paying for service, so it will get the OEM til 25k.

Yeah better to stick with OEM or the TRD, as they're engineered for that engine in mind. I usually don't like saying that in most cases, I feel any midrange aftermarket would be fine, but that's not the case IMO for the Toyota's. I use the Ultra in my F150 over the Motorcraft for instance.

The Purolator Pure One and the Wix filters are judged best on several sites comparing oil filters. I use the OEM on my 2004 Camry V6. Regards.

The difference between Purolator, Wix, Napa Gold, and Toyota are moot. Get whichever is less expensive and/or more convenient.

NAPA Gold, made by WIX. WIX is a premier filter manufacturer located in Gastonia NC. A web search and filter comparisons consistently rates WIX filters very highly. Always better safe than sorry. Not necessarily so with Fram

^ I use the next best, NAPA Proselect. Best under $3 filter IMO.



As other's said, the OEM filter is the best. The Purolator and WIX (NAPA) are well build filters too.
